The President of the Republic, Grand Master of the Order of the White Rose of Finland and the Order of the Lion has decided on December 6, 2021 to award meritorious Finnish citizens. It has been decided to award the Finnish White Rose I class medal to docent Paula Kyrö. The medal was handed over at YKTS2022 in Ylivieska.
The medal of the Order of the White Rose of Finland is awarded to a citizen who has served the country with merit in recognition of notable civil and military merits. The primary starting point is the person's personal merits, which must be above the average level, and which the person concerned has demonstrated through his or her own professional skills or notable social tasks. A good reputation is also a prerequisite.
Docent Paula Kyrö is a pioneer in the research promotion of entrepreneurship education research and the development of entrepreneurship education in Finland. Kyrö has a dissertation in both education and business economics, creating the basis for Kyrö's extensive career as a developer of entrepreneurship education research in the middle ground between entrepreneurship and education. As evidence of this, Kyrö was appointed as a professor of entrepreneurship education at the University of Tampere and the Helsinki School of Economics, which later became known as Aalto University. Kyrö worked as a visiting professor at Jönköping University of Economics and Business in Sweden.
Kyrö's achievements also include assembling a network of entrepreneurship education researchers and actors for the Entrepreneurship Education Days since 2007, and founding the Research Society for Entrepreneurship Education. She was the first chairman of the Research Society in 2009-2013. Kyrö was founding the Yrittäjyykasvatuksen Aikakauskirja Journal, acting as editor-in-chief of the first issue in 2014. Kyrö is an honorary member of the Research Society.
Kyrö's operations are recognized internationally. In 2014, Kyrö was named the third recipient of the European Entrepreneurship Education Award, the first Finn. Kyrö has led numerous entrepreneurship education research and development projects and supervised dozens of graduate students. He has also acted as an opponent and pre-examiner in almost 20 doctoral theses.
Kyröllä on runsaasti kokemusta tieteellisten kirjojen toimittamisesta ja hän on laatinut runsaasti omia tutkimusjulkaisuja niin kotimaisilla kuin kansainvälisillä foorumeillakin. Tieteellisten tehtävien lisäksi Kyröllä on ollut lukuisia luottamustehtäviä koulutuksen kehittämisverkostoissa ja projekteissa. Kyrö sai Uudenmaan Yrittäjien kunnianosoituksen vuonna 2010. Kyrö on eläköitymisestään huolimatta edelleen aktiivinen yrittäjyyskasvatuksen kehittäjä Suomessa
